Garrison faced a possible maximum sentence of six years and eight months, but instead, “The judge imposed both prison time and four years of parole and ordered Garrison to pay around $300,000 in restitution to the victims and their families.”
It is important to note that the restitution Garrison ordered to pay may not necessarily limit the victims’ rights in a civil court.
